Applications are accepted year-round from families who meet the eligibility guidelines. A child can enter the Head Start program at any time. If classes are full, we will add your child’s name to a waiting list. Because space is limited, applications received in February or soon after have a better chance of being accepted.
To start the enrollment process, simply contact the Head Start location nearest you and schedule an appointment. During the appointment a Michigan Family Resources representative will help you fill out the necessary paperwork. Please bring the following information with you:
-
Proof of income (pay stub and/or proof of public assistance)
-
Certified birth record for each child to be enrolled
-
Current immunization records
-
Current medical examination report (within one year)
-
Birthdates for all family members
In most cases, you will find out during the enrollment meeting if your child has been placed or will be on a waiting list.
